Our photo material
Image capture will be at the heart of our project.
We see this as a visual support, in order to share our adventure with as many people as possible. We want to transmit through images the emotions experienced in the field.
We will be able to present all these moments of life at conferences, expositions, when we are back.
Photography and video are a passion for us, a way to clear our heads and capture the moment.
It's also a way for our sponsors to have visibility and a return on their investment in our adventure because we can provide the images that can be used for their communication.
"Live the moment and immortalize it in an image."
Drone and on-board camera
Our equipment consists first of all of a DJI Mavic Pro drone, dedicated to aerial images, and able to follow us independently in a kayak. It's a wonderful tool to show the vastness of the fjords we will cross.
We each start with a GoPro Hero 6 Black, able to follow us even in the moments of action, such as when we paddle in extreme conditions, or when we climb the peaks overlooking the turquoise waters.
Camera and lenses
We have 2 SLR cameras Nikon D500. On the latter we can install interchangeable lenses. We have several objectives dedicated to specific uses :
A Tamron 10-24/3,5-4,5 which is an ultra wide angle allowing us to photograph while integrating many elements of the landscape and to play with the perspectives.
We start with telephoto lenses like the Sigma 70-200/2.8, or the Sigma 120-300/2.8 which are stabilized optics with large openings. This will allow us to take photo of animals while kayaking, by detaching the subject from its environment.
We each bring a Sigma 18-35/1.8 and a Nikon 50/1.8 which are versatile lenses in terms of framing, brightness and rendering.
All this equipment can take pictures and film in 4K. This implies a regular storage of files, so we leave with a laptop computer, and 16TB of hard disks.
In our cameras there are SD and microSD cards between 32 and 128GB.
In order to get a best result from our films, we also chose to use a 3-axis stabilizer, the Ronin S from DJI, which makes the video shots more fluid.
The sound is also a factor not to be neglected, we have 2 neckties microphones from Rode, as well as a directional microphone from the same brand.
This equipment can be fixed on 2 Benro tripods with large ball joints, capable of supporting several kilos of photo/video equipment.
All the equipment is transported in waterproof bags, which allows us to place them on the deck of our kayaks in order to have quick access to them.
